Features of the Hytch Chat

Drop a Carrot

Pin a reward anywhere on the map.

Drop Reward Points at any location for a buddy or group to collect. Pick an amount, choose who can claim it, write a message, and drop. The carrot appears on your selected friends’ maps, and bigger rewards show up physically larger. Recipients tap the pin, get directions, and head there to claim.

  • Choose amount: 100, 250, 500, or custom Reward Points
  • Target a buddy group or an individual friend
  • Pin to your current location or search for one
  • Write a message, "Meet me here!" by default
  • Recipients navigate to the pin to claim the reward
  • Sponsor carrots add venue verification: GPS, QR scan, receipt, or social proof

Gift XP

Reward a friend’s effort with experience points they can spend.

Convert your earned XP into Giftable XP, then send it to a buddy for completing a quest, showing up to a meetup, or just being great. Pick a preset (100, 250, 500) or enter a custom amount. The gift lands in chat as a blue card with the amount, location, and your message.

  • Convert regular XP to Giftable XP at 10:1 in the XP Shop
  • Send from any DM or group chat
  • Attach to a friend’s personal quest as a completion bonus
  • Gift appears as a structured blue card in the conversation

Tastemaker

The location comes off your device, not a search box.

An In the Moment review is written at the venue, and the app takes the location from your device rather than a search box. A review of an earlier visit is labeled and dated as one, so you always know which of the two you are reading. Answer six guided prompts, attach photos per prompt, and your review drops as a plate icon on the map and shares into your chats. Other users find you through a swipeable Explore deck or a Browse list.

  • Check in again at a place you have already reviewed
  • Add a dated update that sits under the original review
  • Earn a Regular badge at a spot after three visits
  • Tastemaker Zones are curated geo-collections with subscriber pricing

Tell a Story

Drop a story on the map wherever life happens.

Answer up to six prompts about your experience, from what you consumed to confessions, regrets, and things you overheard, then pin the story to your GPS location. Stories show up as pen icons on the map and as tappable cards in chat. Write live, or in Recall mode about a past moment at a different place.

  • Six prompts: consumed, talent, confessions, overheard, regrets, say more
  • Attach photos per prompt or as a general set
  • "In the Moment" pins to your GPS; "Recall" lets you search for a past location
  • Share to groups, specific buddies, or make it public
  • Swap the map icon between a pen and a note-paper cosmetic skin
  • Collective stories with a buddy stay private to the pair

Carpool and SafeRide

Coordinate a sober driver. Everyone earns rewards.

SafeRide pairs a sober driver with friends who need a ride home. The driver confirms sobriety, gets a 4-digit code, and waits for riders to join. Riders enter the code or scan a QR. The trip tracks automatically and both sides earn Reward Points, and venue-originating rides get a bonus.

  • Carpool: post a ride request into chat with time, pickup, and destination
  • Plan a Carpool: coordinate who is driving, departure, and ending location
  • SafeRide: full designated-driver flow with code pairing and trip tracking
  • Driver rating system after each ride
  • Stripe Connect payouts for accumulated earnings
  • Venue geofence pins on the map where SafeRide is available

Suggest a Plan

Propose a place. The fishing-pole pin lands on everyone’s map.

Search for a venue, pick a day and time, and drop a plan into chat. It posts as a structured card and plants a fishing-pole pin on the home map. The Tasteprint engine can suggest venues ranked by group taste-match percentage. In Couples Mode the tool becomes "Schedule a Date" with adapted copy.

  • Search any venue or location in app
  • Day picker carousel (60 days) and 12-hour time wheel
  • Tasteprint-powered venue suggestions with group match scores
  • Add notes: dress code, logistics, parking
  • Share to multiple groups and buddies at once
  • Plan pins visible on the home map for all recipients

Quests

Set a group mission with a goal, a unit, and an optional deadline.

Create trackable challenges like "Taco Tour: visit 3 taco spots" and post them into chat. Quests have a title, a numeric goal, and a unit of measure. In DMs, choose between a joint quest or a mission for your friend, with optional Gift XP attached as a completion reward. In self-chat, create Personal Quests for solo goals like running or hiking.

  • Title, goal number, and unit of measure
  • Optional deadline with date picker
  • Suggestion chips: Taco Tour, Coffee Crawl, Park Hop, and more
  • DM missions: create a quest for your friend with attached Gift XP
  • Personal Quests in self-chat with solo-oriented suggestions
  • Progress tracking in the chat card

SOS

Alert your group with your live location when something is wrong.

One tap sends a red alert card into the chat with your GPS coordinates, what is wrong, and how people can help. Anyone in the group can tap the card to open directions straight to you. The composer prominently reminds users to call 911 for actual emergencies.

  • Two fields: "What is wrong?" and "How can they help?"
  • GPS coordinates shared automatically
  • Red-tinted card stands out in the chat feed
  • Tapping the card opens driving directions to the sender
  • Available in group chats and DMs
Group intelligence

Your group remembers. So you don't have to.

Every plan leaves something worth keeping. Hytch turns what your group shares and does into memory you can actually use.

Group Brain

Save it once. Ask for it anytime.

Save messages, links, and notes into a shared group brain. Then ask questions in plain language and get answers drawn from what your group saved, whether that is the address from March, the song from the road trip, or the restaurant everyone loved. A Tasteprint learns what your group actually likes and sharpens every suggestion.

  • Save messages, links, and notes as your group brain
  • Ask in plain language, answers come from what you saved
  • A Tasteprint that learns what your group actually likes
  • Works in group chats and DMs

Memory Recaps

Every plan becomes a memory.

After a plan wraps, Hytch can build the recap for you: who came, where you went, and the moments worth keeping, tied to the places they happened. Trip recaps replay the group's day on the map, and place-linked memories stay with your group so the next plan starts from what you loved last time.

  • Automatic outing recaps after every plan
  • Trip recaps replay the journey on the map
  • Memory of what your group cares about
  • Private by design, your real names never leave your device

Additional features

Create Event

Full event creation, right from the chat.

Build a structured event with a title, description, cover image, start and end times, location, capacity limits, and guest approval settings. Events live in the Plans center calendar and can be associated with a group.

Plan Poll

See what has been suggested for each day this week.

A day-of-week filter view over your group’s recent Suggest a Plan posts. Flip through Monday to Sunday to see which venues have been proposed. An AI sparkle button can auto-generate a poll question and options from the group’s suggestions.

Drop Location

One tap. Your coordinates land in the chat.

Instantly shares your current GPS location as a pin in the conversation. No form, no picker: tap and it sends. Recipients see your coordinates and can open directions.

Remind Me to Send

Schedule a message for later.

Write a message now, deliver it later. In self-chat, this becomes "Schedule to Self" for personal reminders.

Events Near Me

Browse what is happening nearby.

Surface local events from the area around you, from concerts to meetups to one-off happenings, and share them into your group conversation.

Coinflip

Cannot decide? Flip for it.

Questions about Hytch

Hytch is a map-native messenger that helps groups decide, coordinate, move, and experience more together. It combines chat, maps, and coordination tools in one place, with features like plan suggestions, polls, time-boxed location pulses, SafeRide designated-driver coordination, quests, and a group memory system.

Most messengers are built for conversation, not coordination. Hytch makes the group thread executable: pin a plan to the map, run a poll, share a time-boxed location pulse, coordinate a SafeRide, and keep the whole experience in one living group context. A social memory layer preserves what your group learns so the next plan starts from what worked last time.

Yes. Hytch is free to download and use. Core features including messaging, plans, polls, location pulses, SafeRide, quests, and group memory are available to all users. Some premium features like Tastemaker Zones may carry optional pricing.

SafeRide is a sponsor-supported safe-ride coordination program built into Hytch. It pairs a sober driver with friends who need a ride home. The driver confirms sobriety, gets a 4-digit code, and riders join. Both sides may earn Reward Points when a sponsor program is active. It is not ride-hailing. It helps groups coordinate safe rides with friends and designated drivers.

Hytch is launching in Nashville, Tennessee as its flagship city. The app is available for iOS on the App Store and for Android on Google Play. Nashville was chosen because it is social, mobile, fast-moving, and full of real-world coordination, the right kind of city for a map-native group messenger.
